The most capable of TechRadar's three favourite compact purifiers, with an auto mode that raises the fan when its sensor detects particles, which is what you want when pollen drifts in through an open window. It is bigger than the other compact picks and still small enough for a bedroom corner. Ignore the 1,051 sq ft on Levoit's page: TechRadar points out that figure means one air change an hour. Levoit now sells this model as the Core 300S-P.

Our reading of Tom's Guide — their best air purifier for small spaces , 2026
The filter is rated to last five years, so after the purchase there is little else to buy, which on a small purifier often decides the true cost. Tom's Guide found it quick to react, clearing cooking smells in 20 minutes, and light enough to move between rooms at 4.4 lb. It has no app or timer, and it is not meant for more than about 250 sq ft.

Small enough for a bedside table, light enough to carry from room to room, and rated as highly as the Levoit for about a third of the price. It suits a single bedroom rather than a whole flat, and Govee's claim of 376 sq ft gives no air-change figure, so treat it as a one-room purifier.

The easiest of the picks to live with: few buttons, and fabric pre-filters you wash rather than throw away. TechRadar found it effective for its size. Blueair itself gives two different room sizes, 88 and 107 sq ft, which is a good illustration of why those numbers are unreliable. No photograph or price: Blueair's store currently lists it as a two-unit bundle, so the link is a search for the single unit.

Why the room size on the box misleads
TechRadar's comparison makes the point well. Blueair lists two different room sizes for the same purifier. Govee claims 376 sq ft without saying how often it cleans that air. Levoit's 1,051 sq ft figure is based on one air change an hour, which is not enough to help an allergy sufferer. Makers use different standards, so their numbers are not comparable.
What to look at instead
CADR, the clean air delivery rate, especially the pollen figure if hay fever is the problem. The appliance makers' association (AHAM) guideline is a smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of the room's area in square feet: a 150 sq ft bedroom wants a CADR of at least 100. Tom's Guide recommends paying most attention to the pollen figure if allergies are the reason you are buying.
A true HEPA filter, which traps the fine particles pollen and dust mite allergens come in.
Noise on the setting you will use. A purifier that is too loud on medium ends up switched to low, where it does little.
Filter cost. Small purifiers are cheap to buy and can be expensive to feed. Price a year of filters before you choose.
Where to put it
In the room you sleep in, with space around it, and with the door closed. One small purifier cannot clean a whole flat.
